The Sith Trials
An aged Sith sat by the fire and raised his head.
"I will tell you about the tests of times long dead.
In those days the Sith were proved by three tests.
To see whose Courage, Unity, and Knowledge was best."
"So if you desire to see if you've earned the name,
Listen to my words and do not listen to wealth or fame.
You must take the tests before a Sith you are declared.
So before you compete, listen and be prepared."
"Unity is the most obscure, but every Sith should know:
Always work together before you strike the first blow.
Cooperation should never be idly dismissed,
And integration should come before prejudice."
"Courage is the simplest test, but hard it is to meet,
For simple bravery is found in every man on the street.
Conquering great fear proves how a true Sith will behave,
And this gives them power from far beyond the grave."
"And Knowledge is a hard test, far harder than you know!
Courage and Unity help maintain the status quo.
But true Knowledge is what helps a Sith to innovat

LLAMA'S ARE ALWAYS RETURNED!! Just give me a llama, and you'll get one back. Llama for llama!

Hi, I'm exarobibliologist!

My username is a made up word, formed by combining the Greek words exaro ("to dig"), biblia ("to read", "books", "library"), and ologist ("person", "one who"). Put it all together, and I am "one who digs good books", or an exarobibliologist.

I've had several usernames in the past. For the longest time (11 years), I was cypher-neo. My original username had nothing to do with the Matrix. It was actually a combination of two childhood nicknames (really!), and you can only take so many Matrix jokes before...
I changed my username to archaeobibliologist, which I thought meant "I dig good books", but I got my Greek words mixed up...
So I finally changed my username to exarobibliologist.

Let me tell you a little bit about me:
I am normal person with opinions and feelings, just like everyone else. More specifically, I am an INTJ, with an IQ over 180. As an introvert, I'm very awkward socially, but I do smile and laugh occasionally.

I figure I'll never be remembered for doing anything impressively special in life, but I hope to inspire other people, and to be remembered for all the small things I've helped in.

I am addicted to coffee and hot chocolate. I hate weak coffee, and I have no idea why people drink decaf!

I'm a professional photographer. I shoot engagements, weddings, nature, fashion, models...

I'm a nerd. I revel in being a nerd. I'm not affected by teasing and mockery about being a nerd. Being comfortable with your stereotype gives you a great deal of power, and as a result I tend to give wannabe nerds an inferiority complex.

I'm a love reading books! Although I respect the continuity of trilogies, and read them in order without skipping ahead, it's not unusual to find me reading 5-6 books at any given time.

I'm also a Linux nerd! I've finished several LFS (Linux From Scratch) builds. I love Debian, and Debian-based distros, like Mint, Netrunner, Ubuntu, etc. My favorite desktop is KDE (currently KDE Plasma 5.4). My motto is: Beta-Test to Destruction!! I love working with programs and finding interesting useful ways of doing things. I'm usually tweaking something on my computer, or shell scripting. I can usually be found on the Spotchat network (

I feel I'm better at writing stories than poetry, but sometimes I can't think of the words to say to write longer, so then I write verses. I like vividness of subject in both pictures and literature. I enjoy writing parodies on existing songs and poems.

I love gaming, especially the tabletop RPG variety! My favorite tabletop games are Mythic, Numenara, FATE, EPIC, and Star Wars: Saga Edition. I have designed a few character sheets for Star Wars Saga.
I've also written and designed several tabletop RPG games over the past couple years. My RPG system is called EPIC. I've gotten high reviews from other game-masters about my game system. I usually have monthly EPIC games with other nerds.

I'm very eclectic in television and movies. Mostly anime, science fiction, and fantasy, but occasionally I do something from another genre.

I was a MN@ for about a year and a half and I enjoyed every minute of it! Volunteering for deviantART is a wonderful experience and I encourage everyone to try it.

I only take critiques well when it's coming from someone who wants to help me improve. I don't respect criticism from people who give decide that an art critique can also include comments about my parenting, or other similar incendiary subjects. I don't mind getting a negative critique; but when you critique me please do it to help me improve. Don't just bash me...

I suggest Daily Deviations whenever I find stunning artwork. Several of my suggestions have been accepted.

I am fiercely loyal to all of my friends, and I always stand up for my friends and what I believe in. I like helping people unreservedly. If you ever need any help, just send me a note and I'll be glad to assist you as much as I can.

I don't know what Andrew would have thought about it... but after reading it twice, I was very impressed with the writer.
My Dearest Andrew
On my internet travels, I ran into this collection of real suicide notes. They’re intriguing and heartbreaking, just as you would expect strangers’ suicide notes, presented without much context, to be. This one in particular stayed with me and I dearly wanted to give the young woman a different ending to her story. I began my letter in the same way she did, but that’s where the similarities end.

Content warning for mentions of intimate partner violence and suicidal ideation. No descriptions or details, no excessive violence or gore.

For the month of January 2017, I'm writing a piece of flash fiction every day based on a set of prompts. You can see a list of the prompts and links to the stories on my blog, here. I'll be posting the pieces at first, followed by DA a few days later so you can read them in either place depending on how long you want to wait. Obviously I'd love it if you visited my blog cause that's where all my writing and lots of other stuff lives so a wider audience there would be awesome, but I'm happy to share with my DA family here as well.

Some of my written work tends towards the darker side of things so for the purpose of posting it on DA I'll be applying the Mature Content tag if I think there's any chance at all that any of the content in a story might not be suitable for younger readers. I'm generally massively over-cautious about this kind of thing, partly because I genuinely do not want to upset anyone and partly because I don't want to be on the receiving end of the bile and rage that is sometimes directed at people who work in more subversive creative genres.

If a Mature Content tag isn't necessary as per DA's guidelines but a story contains themes or details that it may benefit people to know about up-front so they can make an informed choice about reading without risking being retraumatised, the appropriate content warnings will be included in the description of the piece.

I love having the opportunity to share words as well as pictures and I hope you enjoy reading my creations

deviantART doesn't allow you to update a deviation if the main file type changes. I wanted to update EPIC, but I was changing it from a PDF to a ZIP (which contained both a printer-friendly version and a regular version of the rulebook). I had to submit it as an entirely new deviation! Even though I'm using the same preview image, the same tags, the same description, putting it in the same gallery... I could not update the deviation to a different file type.

That needs to change deviantART!
It's always sad to lose someone on deviantART, but it was nice to be able to know them while they were around! :cheer up hug:
This is a nice tribute that Star Wars and Star Trek fans can share in together.

I love browsing Undiscovered! What a find!
The Force was with her, and she was with the Force.
A Princess to the Stars
1h speedpaint in memory of the late Carrie Fisher. May the princess walk peacefully in the sky.
